Madison Woman Charged With Drunk Driving In Fall Moped Death

A Madison woman was charged last week with drunk driving after she allegedly hit a man who was riding a moped, killing him.

Twenty-seven-year-old Ekaterina Topolkaraeva allegedly caused the accident last October when she drove in the wrong lane of a Beltline frontage road, killing a 37-year-old Madison man.

Officials allege Topolkaraeva had injected heroin as well as been drinking before the crash occurred.

Reports said when police arrived at the scene, a black moped was underneath Topolkaraeva’s vehicle and the body of the victim was found over the side of the road.
