Man Injured When Concrete Crashes Through Windshield

April 21, 2012 |

A 50-year-old Falls River man was critically injured Tuesday when a chunk of concrete crashed through his windshield while he was driving on Interstate 39/90 near Highway 151.

According to reports the softball-sized piece of concrete was from a broken up section of road on Highway 151 and was likely kicked up by another passing car. The 50-year-old was hit in the head and drove himself to the hospital. The Wisconsin Department of Transportation is calling the incident a freak accident and said crews have already been out there to fix the problem.

The man was listed in fair condition by Thursday.

Channel3000.com is reporting the northbound portion of Highway 151 had just been inspected Monday and Wisconsin state department of transportation officials said there were no signs of any safety concerns.
