Man Sentenced In Hit-And-Run Death Of Wheelchair-Bound Man

The man who hit and killed a wheelchair bound man last January in Green Bay with his truck before fleeing the scene was sentenced to 10 years in prison Thursday.

Forty-year-old Mark Sperber was convicted last November in the 20-year-old man’s death. Sperber had told investigators he thought he had hit a trash can, which is why he did not stop. Witnesses at the scene reportedly said he initially stopped, but quickly continued on his way. Officials said Sperber had consumed three strong drinks in the hour prior to the crash.

The victim had been riding down the street because the sidewalks were snow-covered at the time of the crash.
